The Hive neighbourhood, a settlement in the south east central area of The Drake Sector, witnessed a brutal clash between two rival gangs this morning. The Shockwaves, an Escher gang led by Electra, launched a surprise attack on Utter Chaos, a Goliath gang led by Earl, who had occupied the area earlier. The skirmish resulted in heavy casualties for the Goliaths and a decisive victory for the Eschers.
According to CCTV footage obtained by The Drake Chronicle, the Shockwaves arrived at the scene with a large force of heavily armed gangers, and quickly took out one of the Utter Chaos sentries with a plasma gun. The shot alerted the rest of the Goliaths, who scrambled to defend their position. However, the Shockwaves had already flanked them from all sides, and unleashed a barrage of Plasma and Lasgun fire that knocked down several more defenders.
One eyewitness, told The Drake Chronicle that they heard shouts of “Ambush” and “We’re under attack” from the Goliaths, and saw one of the Shockwaves rush in to finish off a wounded ganger with a knife. Another eyewitness said that they saw Utter Chaos try to counterattack with frak grenades, but most of them missed their targets and hit nearby flats and apartments instead. Some of the residents were injured by the explosions, and had to be taken to the nearest medicae facility.
Local CCTV footage shows the Shockwaves attempted use of flash grenades to blind and disorient their enemies, and then charged in to close combat. The Goliaths were overwhelmed by the ferocity and speed of the Eschers, and soon retreated from their positions, dragging their wounded with them. The Shockwaves then claimed the settlement as their territory, and celebrated their victory.
It is not clear if Electra, the leader of the Shockwaves, participated in the skirmish, after her reportedly injuries in a previous encounter with The 451 Ore Chasers. However, her gang’s success will surely boost her reputation and morale, which had been low after a series of defeats and poor strategic choices. This victory may also silence some of the dissenters within the House of Blades, who had been calling for her head.
The Hive neighbourhood remains under the Shockwaves’ control for now, but it is likely that Utter Chaos will seek revenge soon. The Drake Chronicle will continue to monitor the situation and report any new developments.
