Drake Sector in Ruins After Catastrophic Collapse

12/11/44,265 ·

The Drake Sector is in a state of chaos and despair after a massive cave-in and partial collapse that occurred yesterday. The cause of the disaster is still unknown, but many residents blame the sector authorities for their negligence and corruption.

According to eyewitnesses, the collapse started around noon, when a loud rumble shook the ground and cracks appeared on the walls and ceilings of several buildings. Within minutes, large chunks of rockrete and metal came crashing down, crushing everything and everyone in their path. Panic and confusion spread as people tried to escape the falling debris and find a safe place.

The collapse affected a large area of the sector, including residential, commercial and industrial zones. Some buildings were completely destroyed, while others were severely damaged and unstable. The sector’s power grid, water supply and communication network were also disrupted, leaving the survivors in the dark and isolated, though emergency and alterative lighting now appears to be in place.

The death toll is estimated to be in the thousands, but the exact number is hard to determine, as many bodies are still buried under the rubble. Rescue efforts are underway, but hampered by the lack of resources and equipment. The sector authorities have declared a state of emergency and requested assistance from the hive city, but the response has been slow and inadequate.

Some residents suspect that the collapse was not a natural accident, but a result of sabotage or foul play. They point to the fact that the sector has been plagued by gang wars and structural collapses for months, and that the authorities have done little to prevent or resolve them.

One of the incidents that has raised suspicion is the explosion and collapse of the Rat Skull Pub, a popular drinking hole that was located in the hab sector below the Drake Cluster. The incident, which took place a few months ago, was triggered by an explosive device planted by a Palanite Enforcer unit, who were pursuing a notorious Escher gang called the Vicious Vixens. The blast caused a massive structural collapse that engulfed several buildings, including the pub.

Some residents believe that the explosion weakened the foundations of the sector, and that the reconstruction work that followed was shoddy and unsafe. They accuse the sector authorities of cutting corners and pocketing the funds that were supposed to be used for repairs and maintenance. They also claim that the Enforcers were acting on orders from the hive city, who wanted to destabilize the sector and take control of its resources.

The sector authorities have denied these allegations, and called them baseless and irresponsible. They have urged the residents to remain calm and cooperate with the rescue and recovery efforts. They have also warned the residents to avoid spreading rumors and false information, and to report any suspicious activity or persons to the nearest Enforcer station.

Many are describing the sector they have awaken to today as a labyrinth and like maze, tangled, and easily finding themselves separated from their friends and family.

The collapse of the Drake Sector has left a deep scar on the underhive, and exposed the fragility and vulnerability of its inhabitants. The sector, once a thriving and vibrant community, is now a ruin and a graveyard. The survivors face an uncertain and bleak future, as they struggle to cope with the loss of their homes, livelihoods and loved ones.
