Ridgehauler Accident Leads to Chaos and Violence in the Underhive

27/08/44,265 ·

A cargo spill from a damaged Ridgehauler triggered a fierce gang war in The Drake Sector yesterday evening. The Shockwaves and the 451 Ore Chasers fought over the valuable loot, while the local enforcer unit We Are…The Law tried to restore order. The incident resulted in several casualties, injuries, and property damage.

A sudden jolt and a screech of metal signalled the disaster. A massive Cargo-8 Ridgehauler, carrying tons of precious cargo, had hit a broken section of track and lost control. Its containers flew off its back, crashing down onto the narrow streets and alleyways below, where hungry eyes and greedy hands awaited them, somewhere near The Hive and Smelter’s Den neighbourhoods, both controlled by The Shockwaves and the 451 Ore Chasers respectively.

As soon as the news of the cargo spill spread, both gangs mobilized their forces and rushed to the scene. They scoured the area, looking for anything that could be useful or profitable. Weapons, ammo, drugs, tech, even food and water. Anything that could give them an edge in the harsh Drake Sector. Local enforcer unit We Are….The Law where also spotted on the scene not long after. Official records show they were sent to recover items and maintain peace in the area, however representatives of Rattus Express, the owners and operators of the affected ridgehauler, claim no cargo has been returned, despite their requests to the local enforcement officials.

Witnesses report gangers arriving in small numbers, but seemingly growing as time passed, increasing tensions and firepower between the armed gangs and enforcers. The sound of war filled the air. Gunfire, explosions, screams, and curses echoed through the sector. The gangs tried to cover their young scavengers, who risked their lives to grab whatever they could from the wreckage. Bullets whizzed past their heads, shrapnel tore through their flesh, flames scorched their skin.

Eventually as more gang members arrived on the scene, their initial tasks of trying to loot valuable good seemed to make way for all out-gang warfare, with the ever pressing of forward movement of the Ore Chasers pushing back the enforcers and Shockwaves alike.

The CCTV cameras captured the horror. A ganger from the 451 Ore Chasers unleashed a blast of rare firestorm shotgun ammo, setting his enemies on fire. A patrolman from We Are…The Law writhed in agony as his armour melted into his flesh. An Escher sister from The Shockwaves screamed as her hair and clothes burned away. Setting their enemies a blaze and running for cover. The Shockwaves shortly after retreated, leaving just We Are….The Law and 451 Ore Chasers to pick off the remaining loot and each other.

The area is now quiet, the enforcers retreated their positions not long after the Shockwaves, and after retrieving all they saw of value, the Ore Chasers retreated also to their stronghold in the Smelter’s Den. Although now quiet, many cargo containers remain scattered on The Drake Sector floor and building roofs, citizens are advised to avoid all containers, as some are reported to carry dangerous explosives and chemicals, and their structural integrity can no longer be assured after their fall. Citizens are advised to report spotted containers to Rattus Express via their Data-slates.
