Leaked intel shows the Palatine Enforcers receiving a tip off for an upcoming drug deal between local Escher gang, The Shockwave, and a Delaque agent within the old and collapsed Drake dome in central Drake Cluster. Below is a report of the resulting operation, as gathered from local accounts.
Reports say the Palatine Enforcer unit known by their bellowing commands only as, ‘We Are The Law’, approached the situation similar to previous operations, with a barrage of rocket propelled grenades towards the unsuspecting Escher crew. Although missing many, luckily their blasts didn’t set off further collapse of the deserted Dome. The enforcer unit has already come under great scrutiny recently for their use of heavy explosions, with just earlier in the week triggering the collapse of entire city blocks surrounding The Ratskull drinking hole.
The enforcer unit sent numerous grenades from Patrolwoman Carter’s arsenal towards the central building in the dome housing several of the Escher gangers, unfortunately for her, both Electra and Sonic Shockwave’s smart use of cover allowed them to escape them all, but with one rebounding and covering a nearby Sister in rubble and debris. Captain Rizzoli was seen exiting the dome early into the skirmish, slumping up against an external wall, covered in ash and debris.
Once the Shockwaves had settled into to the situation, they responded with strong plasma and lasgun fire, with Sonic being the primary issuer, working through her priority targets without hesitation. She sent Carter to the ground, along with his nearby, yet unidentified colleague, before moving on towards Patrolman Hudson, who, along with some of the junior Shockwaves, had so far only been contributing a, not always succesful, array of flash grenades into the skirmish.
Patrolman Beckett had the only luck of the enforcers, with a well placed bolt knocking Sonic onto her back.
With the enforcers outnumber from the start, perhaps due to poor intel, or worse, poor planning, where quickly overwhelmed by the Shockwaves firepower and speed, already loosing track of several gangers escaping their surveillance net. They quickly lost their nerve and retreated from the dome, leaving it under the influence of the, on the rise, Shockwaves gang.
The Drake will be of great value to the Shockwaves, although officially an abandoned space, in reality it serves as an, out of view space for various nefarious activities within the sector, being home to numerous drug dens, rogue arms dealers and other, non-sanctioned and unsavoury activities. The Shockwave will be able to profit from this by extorting the local users for protection money.
While The Shockwaves will be on a high, this particular Palatine Enforcers unit will come under huge scrutiny, for what will be seen by many in power as a poorly planned and executed raid. Question will certainly be fielded to Captain Rizzoli over where the responsibility for her unit’s failure lies, quality of intel, readiness, equipment, or if her unit’s personnel just isn’t up to the near-impossible task they have been handed. Its certain pressure will not only come from Drake Sector officials, but also from regular citizens being very uneasy at the, seemingly autonomous, and mercenary like power being given to this unit of enforcers, which isn’t helped by the sometimes destructive, and indiscriminate nature of their chosen tactics.
