Shockwaves repel Sump Saints’ siege on The Drake

14/08/44,265 ·

The Sump Saints launched a daring raid on The Drake in the early hours of the morning, targeting the northwest side by way of the toll bridge over the waste river running through The Drake Sector.

The Shockwaves, who claim The Drake for themselves must have had pre-warning of the attempted siege, as when the Cawdor followers began to assemble on the far side of the bridge, they were immediately met with strong plasma and lasgun fire from the Escher sisters.

Volleys of grenades crossed the river in both directions, causing further damage to The Drake, and slowing the Sump Saints progress across the bridge.

The Shockwaves where at a huge disadvantage number wise, with what’s reported as a swarm of ragged zealots wielding makeshift weapons to the relatively smaller number of Escher sisters. However, they were certainly the more organised, using what appears to be predetermined posts around the entrance of the bridge. The sisters have clearly anticipated the bridge being used as a potential striking point and made good defensive preparations.

This extra readiness was clear with their choice of priority targets, splitting into multiple firing groups, the more experienced sisters targeting Cawdor snipers and RPG specialists, with the younger sisters focusing their fire on the horde attempting to make their way over the bridge.

As the Sump Saints numbers started to drop to Plasma and long range Lasgun fire, one brave Sump Saint, a young Bonepicker known as Arncott, managed to get a well place shot in on a young Shockwave, Lexi Jolt, causing her serious injury, before managing to make a desperate charge towards Kira Surge, another young sister close to the front line. Unfortunately, his charge ended disastrously, despite his target being just a little sister, Kira’s Stiletto knife was pre-drawn and covered in a fast-acting toxic substance that made quick work of the Cawdor follower, sending him to the ground in agony, no-longer able to control his own limbs and bodily functions.

It wasn’t long before the Cawdor heavy Ambot made its presence know, coming out from behind its cover, and slowly moving forward across the bridge. Its movement was slowed by a rain of Plasma and Bolter fire, with ranged fire now being almost the exclusive property of the Shockwaves. Trying to use the Ambot as cover, numerous Sump Saints started running across the bridge, but none other than the earlier unlucky Bonepicker made it to the other side alive.

Already on the back foot, and after attempted wave after wave of charges across the bridge, the Saints were finally resigned to the fate of their il-thought out siege, as the bridge lurched and spun with a metallic screech, throwing off the balance of those on it. Its turning mechanism had been engaged, and now rotated 90 degrees, knocking some upon it off their feet, and isolating all from their allies, but worse, making them sitting ducks for the Shockwaves firing line.

Battered and bruised, the sump saints bottled it, escaping with their few remaining followers still standing. Taking severe losses, it would be hard to imagine any gang attempting a similar siege on The Drake in future, especially from this route access the bridge.

The Shockwaves have recently dominated the sector with their cunning and firepower, Electra Shockwave is firmly trying to make her mark for top cat in the sector, a spot many currently consider to be her Escher rival Mave of the Vicious Vixens.
